Venezuelan model Stefania Fernandez is the new Miss Universe after winning the title at the Atlantis Paradise Island resort in the Bahamas.
The 18-year-old received the crown from 2008 winner Dayana Mendoza, also from Venezuela.
It is the first time that one country has won the beauty pageant two years in a row.
Venezuela is becoming the nation to watch in the field of beauty queens.
The South American country has won Miss Universe six times and the Miss World title on five occasions.
Fernandez was chosen out of the 83 entrants beating Miss Dominican Republic and Miss Kosovo to the coverted crown.
She will now embark on a number of lucrative assignments across the globe before her year in the hot seat comes to an end.
