Skin is the true story of Sandra Laing, a black girl who was born to white parents in apartheid South Africa. The parents had, unbeknown to them, some black genetic ancestry but they succeeded against the odds in getting their daughter classified as “white”. The trouble however intensified some years later when Sandra fell in love with a black man and eventually insisted on having her classification changed – to black.

The director, Anthony Fabian, has so far enjoyed success on the festival circuit with the film, which he says, resonates with everyone who has faced discrimination of whatever kind. The cast includes Sam Niell as Sandra’s father, Alice Krige as her mother and Sophie Okonedo as Sandra.
