They were dubbed the “three amigos.” And it was with a suitably united front that the leaders of America, Canada and Mexico brought their short summit to a close.

The North Americans supported Mexican President Felipe Calderon’s drive against warring drug gangs, and together the three vowed to fight the spread of HIN1 swine flu, to combat climate change and to expand trade. “We renewed our commitment to work together in Ottawa, Washington and Mexico City, building on our progress at the G8 and G20 Summits,” President Obama said. “We agreed to continue to take aggressive coordinated action to restore economic growth.” But thorny topics remain including Canada’s recent imposition of visas for visitors from Mexico, and a row over allowing Mexican trucks to enter the United States.More about: Canada, USA
