At least 10 people have been killed after being caught in a mudslide in the Philippines.

The victims were coming back from climbing the Minatubo volcano North West of Manila when flooding prompted the mudslide – seven Philipinos died as well as two French and one Belgian tourist. Thousand of residents had to be evacuated from the region. The flooding was provoked by a category two typhoon which dumped heavy rains causing a dike to collapse. The Typhoon also hit Taiwan, causing air traffic to be cancelled and schools and businesses to shut down for the day.
