Dozens hurt in Spanish barracks car bomb blast

world news

| |

A car bomb has exploded outside a civil guard barracks in northern Spain. The size of the blast resulted in a large part of the building’s facade collapsing. Despite that, police say several dozen people only suffered minor injuries in the attack.

The bomb went off in the historic city of Burgos at around 4.30am local time on Wednesday morning. Police are pinning the attack on the Basque separatist group ETA.

Most of the injured, who included children, suffered only cuts and bruises. However, officials say it is a miracle that no one was hurt more seriously in the blast after the car packed with explosives was parked outside the barracks.
