Iran opposition calls for victims to be remembered

There has been more unrest in Iran after the cancellation of a memorial service for a young victim of post election violence.

Several dozen anti-riot police took to the streets in the capital Teheran to disperse people on motorcycles and prevent passing cars blowing their horns.

The latest unrest follows more than a hundred
demonstrations across the world in co-ordinated day of action.

Protests supported by leading groups such as Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International were held in cities like Paris.

The demonstrators urged the Tehran authorities to free those arrested in post election demonstrations.

Campaigners say hundreds of Iranians are held in jail.

Some placards showed Neda Agha Soltan, the 27-year-old woman whose death was captured on a video that was posted on the Internet.

The protesters called on the international community to reject the outcome of the Presidential election which Mahmoud Ahmadinejad claimed to have won by a landslide.

Meanwhile in one of his regular reshuffles of his political pack Ahmadninejad has sacked his Culture Ministers. This follows the firing yesterday of the first vice president.
