The French President Nicholas Sarkozy was taken ill while out jogging earlier today.

The incident occurred while he was at his private residence in Versailles. It was reported the President fainted. He was immediately seen by his personal doctor. A helicopter touched down at the property to take him for treatment at the Val de Grace military hospital in Paris. The French Prime Minister Francois Fillon cut short his weekend and hurried back to Paris on the news. Mr Sarkozy’s wife Carla Bruni was later driven to the hospital. Security was stepped up round the entrance of the hospital as police kept back a crowd of journalists and photographers. Mr Sarkozy who’s 54 has been undergoing tests. He’s conscious and has been speaking to doctors who don’t think his condition is serious. There’s no word yet how long he’ll stay in the hospital.More about: France, Nicolas Sarkozy
