US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton says India has approved two sites for US companies to build nuclear power plants.

They also agreed on terms for the sale of arms between the two countries. “We have agreed on the end-use monitoring arrangements that will henceforth be referred to in letters of acceptance for Indian procurement of US defence technology and equipment,” said Indian Foreign Minister S.M.Krishna. This means Clinton has tangible accomplishments from her first trip to Delhi, designed to deepen ties and demonstrate Washington’s commitment to India’s emergence as a global player. Earlier in the day Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh accepted an invitation from Clinton to make a state visit to Washington in November. It will be the first state visit by a foreign leader for the Obama administration – a further sign, experts say, of the country’s importance to the US.More about: India, USA
