The half-centenary of Island Records is a massive achievement for its creator Chris Blackwell.

“Chris is the person who has really understood the artist that I am. He has given me the chance to express myself, to record the music that I like, without clipping my wings,” explains singer Angelique Kidjo. Over the past fifty years, 72 year old Chris Blackwell has signed acts like Bob Marley and U2. He also brought reggae onto the international stage, and at Montreux, they wanted to say thank you.
