The half-centenary of Island Records is a massive achievement for its creator Chris Blackwell.
“Chris is the person who has really understood the artist that I am. He has given me the chance to express myself, to record the music that I like, without clipping my wings,” explains singer Angelique Kidjo. Over the past fifty years, 72 year old Chris Blackwell has signed acts like Bob Marley and U2.
