The new European Parliament has set sail on a new five year mission with the former Polish prime minister Jerzy Buzek at the helm. The major groups among the crew have been carving up the best jobs and banishing the minnows below-decks. And already a strongarm battle of wills has broken out between forces in Parliament and the 27 member governments over the European Commission.
