Families of the victims gathered at Yerevan airport, to hear the worst news. Everyone on board the Tupolev is said to be dead. Many of the passengers were of Armenian origin, most living in Iran but about 25 were from Armenia itself. The victims also included eight members of Iran’s national junior judo team and two of their coaches.
Most of the bodies were severely burned when the plane exploded, making the task of identifying the dead even harder, and the loss even greater.
