Relatives’ shock and disbelief over Iranian plane crash

The scenes of distress were repeated at Yerevan Airport in Armenia, where a notice on the wall listed the people who were on board.

Friends and relatives gathered, fearing and then hearing the worst.

Iran is home to around 100 thousand ethnic Armenian, many of whom fly frequently between Tehran and Yerevan to visit relatives.

Two crew and 29 passengers were Iranians with Armenian backgrounds.

Armenian and Georgian citizens were also on board.

Eight members of Iran’s national junior judo team and two coaches are among the dead, as well as an Iranian former MP representing the country’s Armenian minority.

Officials say an aircraft will take relatives to visit the site.

A medical team was sent to the airport to help relatives after they heard the news of the crash.

Doctors treated some for shock and heart problems.
