More than 40 people have been killed in a series of bomb attacks in Baghdad and northern Iraq.

US soldiers have only just withdrawan from major Iraqi cities, handing over security to local forces. Observers say the latest bombings appear to be an attempt by insurgents to reignite sectarian fighting after the partial US pullout. The attacks included two suicide bombings in the volatile Nineveh province. Two bombs have also hit a market in Sadr City in Baghdad. US soldiers are due to completely leave Iraq by the end of August, 2010.More about: ,
