Fusion rock band Fun-da-mental are enjoying their residency at the “Creation of Peace” Festival in Kazan in Russia.

In the UK however, the band has faced accusations of stirring up Islamic radicalism but the leader Aki Nawaz, whose stage name is “Propa-Gandhi” – says that their music is a protest against inequality and prejudice. But eyebrows were raised when the band compared Osama Bin Laden to Che Guevara, and performed songs rejecting “Western hypocracy” and detailing the thoughts of a suicide bomber. Travelling, say the band, is an ideal opportunity to spread their message. After the “Creation of Peace” Festival the band will be moving on to play dates in Sweden and Norway this August.More about: ,
