Milos Forman at Korlovy Vary

Respected film director, Milos Forman is attending the Korlovy Vary International Film Festival in the Czech Republic.

Orphaned at an early age, his parents having died in Auschwitz, Milos Forman didn’t hesitate when the Soviet state threatened to send tanks into Czechoslovakia to crush the protests in 1968. He left for Hollywood.

There, he became known for a string of powerful hit films about non-conformist men. His biggest and best known films include One Flew Over the Cukoo’s Nest (1975), Hair (1979) and Amadeus (1984) which won a total of 8 Oscars. More recently, his bio pic Goya’s Ghosts was well received by critics. His latest film , The Ghost of Munich, is in production.

The festival included a special tribute to Milos Forman and a screening of his early film “A Well-Paid Walk” (1966) which started life as a musical theatre piece.
