The US Justice Department is pressing ahead with plans to force the Swiss bank UBS – the world’s largest manager of private wealth assets – to identify thousands of American clients with secret accounts.
In a brief filed in a Florida law court, the Department said it was seeking to enforce tax compliance – including the disclosure of offshore accounts – with the full weight of US law.
