Jackson’s body being taken to Neverland

Michael Jackson fans are preparing to say their last goodbyes to the deceased pop star at his Neverland ranch in California.

One week after he died of cardiac arrest at the age of 50, the singer’s body is scheduled to be brought from Los Angeles to his ranch 200 kilometres away, where an elaborate public memorial is planned.

Some fans feel the so-called King of Pop should have a fitting resting place.

“If Elvis Presley has Graceland, Michael Jackson can have a place for himself here in Neverland. And that’s how I feel,” said one fan, Amey Avila from Solvang, California.

“I definitely think this is where his home was at. So I think it would only be right that he would be buried here. I definitely am going to be coming to the viewing on Friday,” said Robert Flores from Santa Barbara.

The public will reportedly be able to view Jackson’s remains this weekend at Neverland in central California. Some reports say the body will be transported in a glass coffin.

A family ceremony for the controversial pop star is set for Sunday. The exact site of Jackson’s burial has not been disclosed.

The private equity firm that co-owns Neverland asked the people of Santa Barbara county near Neverland to prepare for a global drama of epic proportion.
