Search teams have rescued a five year old child who survived when a Yemeni Airbus crashed into the Indian Ocean with 153 people on board.
66 of those on the A310-300 were French nationals. Bodies have also been recovered after the passenger jet from Yemen crashed into the sea off the Comoros archipelago. The Yemenia Airways aircraft was flying from Saana to Moroni, the capital of the main island in the group. Reports say the plane crashed as it tried to land in bad weather. The French transport minister has said that faults had been detected on the Airbus that crashed into the Indian Ocean. Dominique Bussereau said an inspection by authorities in France in 2007 had turned up a certain number of problems but he added the airline was not on the EU blacklist. It is the second crash involving an Airbus this month.
