Belgian-based holding company RHJ is reported to be buying a stake in Opel. It comes after talks between parent company GM and preferred bidder Magna International ran into problems. The Financial Times says RHJ has improved on an earlier offer to buy into the ailing German carmaker. The paper says GM is taking the new offer “very seriously”. RHJ executives have declined to comment.
