Pakistani security forces have reportedly foiled a major terror plot to blow up foreign embassies and detained up to 25 people.

According to Swedish media, two tons of explosives have been seized in connection with one man’s arrest. Sweden was apparently targeted, possibly because of its military presence in Afghanistan. Attacks were allegedly planned against the diplomatic missions of other European nations who have contributed to the NATO-led force there. The Islamabad embassies of Hungary, the Czech Republic, Norway and Italy were, it is claimed, under threat. A year ago, a car bomb attack on Denmark’s embassy in Pakistan left six people dead. But confusion surrounds reports of any plot to repeat such an attack. A Pakistani Foreign Office spokesman has denied having any information about a terrorist plan targeting foreign embassies.More about: , ,
