52 dead in Iraq market bomb blast

At least 52 people are reported to have been killed in a bomb attack in Baghdad. The blast tore through a a market in Sadr City, a Shi’ite area of the capital. Around 45 people were wounded in the explosion.

It is not clear who was to blame, but sectarian violence between Shi’ites and Sunnis has taken a heavy toll in recent years. US troops are due to hand over security control to Iraqi forces in cities and towns in six days.More about: ,
