At the European Research and Innovation Exhibition held in Paris, researchers were showing off a new generation of solar panel. These new panels capture up to 11% more energy than conventional ones, even at low luminosity. Better still, they are manufactured by applying chemical layers onto a sheet of glass, using less materials than conventional panels, and making them cheaper and of course more environment friendly.
Soon, we will be able to use our mobile phones as boarding cards when flying. Instead of printing a boarding card off a computer, travellers will be able to receive their boarding cards on their mobile phones via a text from the airline. The text will contain a two-dimensional bar code will then be scanned by a laser at the boarding gate.
For the moment, this new service is being tested. But if adopted, it could mean the end of the boarding card as we know it.
