News of economic green shoots in America gave the European markets a Friday afternoon bounce with several of the major bourses doing well.

London was up 1.17 per cent. Frankfurt up .37 per cent. Paris by nearly 1 per cent. But there were falls at the close in Madrid down point 73 per cent and Lisbon down .01 per cent The news which spurred the surge was that the number of Âmerican jobs cut last month fell dramatically compared with April prompting experts to predict further growth later this year. Wall Street was in bullish mood. In currency news the British Pound fell against the US dollar and The Euro, hit by uncertainty over the UK’s political situation. The pound slid 1% against the dollar to $1.6022 Sterling hit a two-week low against the euro of 1.1277 euros.More about:
