EU polls kicks off in Czech Republic

The EU elections continue to sweep across Europe today with voting currently underway in presidency holder the Czech Republic. Voters are electing 22 MEPs to Strasbourg, however turnout remains a concern.

The President Vaclav Klaus is renowned for his euro- scepticism having declared European elections were not necessary. He is opposed to the EU’s Lisbon treaty. Despite the Czech upper house parliament approving the it last month, Klaus appears to be in no rush to ratify the treaty.More about: ,
