An Air France passenger jet has gone missing on a flight from Rio de Janeiro in Brazil to Paris.
French airport officials say they have no hope for any survivors.
There were 216 passengers and 12 crew on board.
Flight AF 447 took off from Rio at 1900 local time on Sunday evening.
The Airbus 330-200 was due to touch down at Charles de Gaulle airport at 1115.
The Brazilian air force has begun a search for the airliner.
