An armed thief has robbed a Paris jewellery store of 10 million euros worth of goods.
The lone gunman, dressed in a suit and wearing a fedora, held up the Chopard shop in broad daylight, forcing staff at gunpoint to hand over fifteen pieces of jewellery. Based in Switzerland, Chopard is known for adorning movie stars on the red carpets of high-profile events like the Cannes film festival and the Oscars in Hollywood. The heist, which took just two minutes to carry out, took place early on Saturday afternoon. It follows a robbery in Paris in December when a gang of armed men stole gems worth 85 million euros from jewellers Harry Winston. The same store was raided a year earlier by thieves who stole 11.5 million euros worth of jewels. Earlier this month two members of a gang of jewel thieves known as the “Pink Panthers” were arrested in Paris according to Interpol.Copyright © 2010 euronews
