Myanmar has lifted the house arrest of pro-democracy leader, Aung San Suu Kyi.

But she will remain in detention while her trial continues. Suu Kyi is accused her of breaking the terms of her arrest when an American man unexpectedly visited her home, in violation of Myanmar’s security law. Her supporters want her released immediately. Former political prisoner, Bo Kyi said that without Suu Kyi, “it’s impossible to have peace and stability in Burma.” Suu Kyi, who is spent most of the last 19 years under arrest, told the court said she was not immediately aware of the late-night visit from the American intruder. She is widely expected to be convicted and faces up to five years in prison.
