Electronic music festival “Les Nuits Sonnores” has opened in Lyon. The festival drew a crowd of 55,000 last year and with more than 220 artists on this year’s bill, the organisers are hoping for similar success this year. The festival takes over the city, concerts being held in around 40 different venues; clubs, gardens, musuems and even the old wholesale market, transformed for the ocassion into a giant concert hall.
Artists appearing at the festival include Laurent Garnier, American duo MATMOS, and London DJs including Gilles Peterson, Ashley Beedle, Phil Asher et BPM.
Highlights of the festival include the “Aperos Sonores” featurng artists playing in smaller bars, outdoor terraces et squares in the city.
The festival wraps up proceedings with the “Siestes Sonores” Sunday 24 May.
