The Mawazine music festival in Rabat, underway this week, has attracting around a million people. Warda has been a major star on the Arabic music scene for more than half a century. Nicknamed “The Rose of Algeria”, she was honoured at the festival with the Royal Medal of the King of Morocco. The festival showcases music from all over the world, including Armadou and Marium Doubia from Mali. The duo hope to spread a message of understanding, love, peace, and justice.
