Antiguan ship seized by Somali pirates

Somali pirates have captured a German operated cargo ship.

It is believed the Antigua and Barbuda-flagged vessel was seized off the Gulf of Aden yesterday afternoon. The 146-metre Victoria had a crew of ten and was reportedly being taken to the Somalian port of Eyl, a known pirate lair. Despite the presence of warships from several nations in the area, Somali pirate attacks show no sign of stopping their attacks in one of the world’s busiest maritime trade routes. Hundreds of people have been taken hostage, and the pirates have made off with millions of euros in ransoms.More about:
