Airbus cuts A380 delivery numbers

European planemaker Airbus has once again cut its target for the delivery of A380 superjumbos this year.

It said several airlines have asked for their planes to be handed over later as demand for flights has been hit by the recession. As a result it now expects to deliver 14 of the double-decker aircraft rather than the 18 it had planned. At the moment it is looking at 20 deliveries for 2010 and said what happens after that will depend on airline demand and whether its customers can get financing to buy the planes. The A380 is over two years behind schedule due to wiring installation problems which caused previous delays. Emirates – the biggest A380 customer with 58 on order – said it has not deferred any deliveries.More about: ,
