Israeli aircraft have continued to bomb tunnels under the border between the Gaza Strip and Egypt, killing two Palestinians. They are the first fatalities since early March. Israel says the latest bombing raids destroyed three tunnels used to smuggle weapons into Gaza near the southern border town of Rafah. However, the Palestinians claim the tunnels are the only way of getting vital supplies into Gaza because of the Israeli blockade.
The second day of raids came after mortars were fired into Israel. No casualties were reported in those attacks.
Elsewhere, two Palestinians were injured in clashes with Jewish settlers in the West Bank town of Safa. Palestinians claim a group of settlers opened fire in the town before Israeli troops arrived to quell the violence.
