Mensa welcomes its youngest member

She said her first word at five months, took her first steps at eight and a half and now she is two Elise Roberts can name 35 capital cities.

But that is not all. With an intelligence far beyond her years the toddler from north London in England has become the youngest member of the high IQ society Mensa. Edward Nosegbe-Roberts, Elise’s father, spotted his daughter’s gifts early on: “Well she was just very quick and observant. You know, she’d see things and you’d tell her things once or twice and she would remember them.” Elise’s IQ is 156 – the average is 100. Her parents soon felt a little out their depth and contacted Mensa for extra support. “We don’t really know what to do. You know we do need guidance, we do sort of need help as it were, and they’ve been really helpful in giving us advice on what we should do,” says Elise’s dad.
