150 years after Gustave Flaubert finished his masterpiece Madame Bovary, his handwritten manuscript has been unveiled on line. The original handwritten pages appear beside a transcription of the work done by 600 volunteers.

Six years of meticulous work and yet there remain some small errors. But there’s a click-through on the site so that readers can suggest corrections. The town library and the Flaubert Centre at the University of Rouen collaborated on the project. CALENDAR GIRLS ON STAGE The stage version of Calendar Girls has finally arrived in London’s West End. The show stars Lynda Bellingham, Patricia Hodge and Sian Phillips. To date, the real life calendar girls have raised 2.23 million euros for leukaemia research. The show runs until June 27 and every ticket sold will include a 1.70 euro donation to the fund.More about: ,
