A minute of silence in memory of the victims of the recent earthquake in Italy – That was how the European Parliament opened its next but last full sitting before the elections are held in June.

This week’s programme includes voting on liberalising Europe’s energy markets for gas and electricity. Consumers’ rights are set to occupy a significant part of the plenary session, involving new rules on mobile phone charges. Extending rights to reimbursement for medical care Europeans receive in EU states other than their home country is to be voted on. And rights for coach and boat passengers are due for attention too.More about:
