As night fell on Bangkok, the violence engulfing the Thai capital showed little sign of letting up.
At least 2 people have now been shot dead following gunfights, although the exact details of their deaths remain unclear.
The number of injured stands at around 100 with reports that four people were treated in hospital for gunshot wounds.
Earlier, troops fought running battles with protesters who hit back with a series of street skirmishes hurling rocks and firebombs.
Several buses were also commandeered and torched at the height of the battle with security forces.
