Deadly blast outside Pakistani Mosque

world news

| |

A suicide bomber has killed at least 17 and wounded around 50 people in Pakistan after detonating a device outside a Mosque.

Authorities say the deadly attack took place at a religious centre for minority Shit’ite muslims in the northeast of the country.

The blast in the Punjab city of Chakwal comes a day after another suicide bomber killed eight soldiers in the capital Islamabad.

Pakistan, which is seen as vital to US efforts to stabilise neighbouring Afghanistan, has a long history of tit-for-tat attacks between militants from Sunni and Shi’ite communities.
