Zimbabwe’s new prime minister Morgan Tsvangirai has been involved in a car accident in which his wife, Susan, has died.

The opposition leader has been admitted to hospital but the nature of his injuries is unknown, although they have been described as not critical. Tsvangirai only recently joined his foe President Mugabe in a power-sharing government, after months of wrangling about cabinet jobs for Tsvangirai’s MDC party members.
