Nestle’s sales remain strong

Nestle has reported strong underlying 2008 sales growth, up 8.3 percent and, unlike some rivals, said it is cautiously upbeat for this year.

The world’s biggest food maker in terms of revenue said economic trouble would continue to hit consumer demand but it is forecasting sales growth “at least approaching five percent.” Responding to the recession it plans to push cheaper products in Europe and developing countries and expects to sell more ready meals as people eat out less.
