Palestinian reaction to election results in Israel has been predictably low key. Both Hamas and Fatah officials have expressed scepticism over whoever gets to form the next government. In the Fatah controlled area of Hebron, locals believed there was not much to choose between the parties. Residents in the battered city of Gaza, watching the news on television in local cafes, claimed that Israel’s policy towards Gaza would remain the same no matter which leader was elected.
