The UN is continuing to distribute reserve aid and food to the people of Gaza despite halting the import of supplies to the territory.

Yesterday, it suspended aid shipments into the Strip after the Islamist group Hamas seized 10 trucks loaded with humanitarian supplies. Hamas has claimed the seizure was a mistake. The UN’s suspension has left the people of Gaza wondering how they will manage. This woman in Gaza said: ‘‘This is a wrong. You know, the whole strip bases itself on the aid from outside.’‘ This man said: ‘‘The people are tired, the situation is bad for everyone if we’re not able to get aid. The whole of the territory is counting on the outside.’‘ While, the UN aid agency in Gaza says food distribution will continue for days, Secretary General Ban Ki-moon has called on Hamas to immediately release the captured trucks.More about: ,
