Israel has hit back against this attack on its territory from the Gaza Strip, with an airstrike on a Hamas position, according to the Palestinian group.

Earlier, this rocket and mortar attack wounded two soldiers and the first civilian to be hurt since the ceasefire in Gaza on January the 18th. The Israeli Prime Minister warned of a disproportionate response. Hamas said Israeli aircraft bombed a security target. Earlier, the Hamas leader Khaled Meshaal met Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmedinejad in Tehran as part of a wider effort to reinforce support for Hamas in the region after the Israeli invasion. The Palestinian president, Mahmoud Abbas made an unscheduled visit to mediators in Cairo, where there had been a hint that moves towards reconciliation between Hamas and his Fatah faction. But Abbas said talking to Hamas was not an option because, he said: “They have to admit unequivocally that the Palestine Liberation Organisation is the only legal representative of the Palestinian people, and with that we can have dialogue.”More about: , ,
