Palestinian smugglers have returned to work in Gaza despite Israeli warnings of more military strikes if their tunnels re-open.

The latest pictures show that some tunnels survived the IDF’s efforts to destroy them and fuel is already being smuggled into Gaza. Israel fears weapons may soon follow and has threatened to go back and finish the job “once and for all.” A UN delegation sent to assess the battered state of Gaza has urged Israel to open border crossings to allow the reconstruction to begin. Clean water, sanitation, electricity and shelter are the priorities, the UN says. Israeli tanks remain poised just outside Gaza should talks on a lasting truce break down. Meanwhile the temporary ceasefire remains fragile. The Israeli military says one of its gunboats had to fire warning shots at a Palestinian fishing vessel that had strayed off limits. Palestinian medics say a man and a girl who were walking through a beachside refugee camp were injured. The IDF denies it fired towards civilians.More about: ,
