In Gaza every new day brings fresh bombardments. Now Israeli reservists are fighting on the ground in Gaza. The Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert says his country is getting closer to achieving its objectives. The worst of the fighting is in the north of the Gaza Strip. Israeli soldiers have made incursions into Gaza City’s suburbs.
Meanwhile ordinary Gazans try to go on living amid the destruction of battle.
With all border crossings closed there is nowhere to go, but some are on the move anyway, trying to flee the fighting, death and destruction.
Around Rafah, in the south, Israel says it has bombed hundreds of tunnels which were used to smuggle goods and allegedly weapons into Gaza.
Several police officers and two children on the Egyptian side were hurt.
The number of Palestinians killed since the offensive began is approaching 900. This weekend half of those killed were said to be civilians, including children.
