Two aspects of art in Portugal with the reopening after two years of renovations of the St Roque Museum in Lisbon, with an exhibition of Portuguese religious art. The collection is one of the most important of its type in Europe, and the museum also displays important sculptural pieces, paintings, and jewellry. Also in the Berado museum a more modern aspect of Portugese art is on show with the BES art photography collection. This began in 2004 and is already one of Portugal’s most important photo collections, and the country’s most significant archive of contemporary photography, although it does not ignore historical photography. It features photographers from around the world, and currently consists of 500 works by 150 artists. “The Present: An Infinite Dimension” runs until the end of January.
