With emergency services overwhelmed injured Gazans are getting to hospital in any way they can.
Taxis have been commandeered to ferry the wounded. When they arrive at hospitals they are frequently treated in entrances and corridors because the emergency rooms are full. The situation has significantly worsened since the ground incursion began at the weekend.
Many of the injured are seeking refuge in Egypt. But the crossing point is tightly controlled by Israel and not everyone is getting through. The UN has called for the border to be opened to allow all refugees to cross over.
Libya is also offering sanctuary to some of those hurt in the combat. Two ambulance planes carrying wounded Palestinians landed in Tripoli last night.
