Air France-KLM is reportedly close to an agreement to buy 25 percent of the Italian carrier Alitalia.

According to media reports, a deal could be signed around 10 January, with Air France-KLM paying between 250 and 210 million euros. Alitalia and Air France would not comment on the reports. A group of Italian investors, known as CAI, is relaunching Italy’s flag carrier as a smaller company on 13 January after merging its assets with the country’s second largest airline, Air One. Germany’s Lufthansa is the other potential foreign partner.
