The attacks on Gaza come in the wake of Israel Prime Minister Ehud Olmert’s decision to increase reprisals for cross-border rocket attacks. Already Palestinian militants have launched rockets into Israel, with reports claiming that one Israeli has already been killed as a result. Israel’s strikes will put a huge strain on emergency services that are already relying on outside support for its medical supplies. The attacks are part of an ever-increasing circle of violence in region. An Israeli army spokeswoman says Hamas leaders may also be targeted.
