The EU Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso said Brazil’s ambitious plan to fight deforestation, by promoting the sustainable development and protection of the Amazon rain forest, would certainly make it a global leader in the fight against climate change. rench President Nicolas Sarkozy is preparing to sign an agreement with President Luiz Ignacio Lula da Silva on that very initiative, as well as an arms deal transferring French submarine and helicopter technology to Brazil.
