Protesters and police continue to battle it out in fresh clashes in the Greek capital. In the 13th day of anti-government protests to rock Greece, anger spilled over into violence yet again as marchers hurled firebombs and stones. Forced into action, police hit back hard as they attempted break up the crowd, which had converged on Parliament.

The unprecedented violence across Greece was sparked by the Police shooting of 15 year-old Alex Grigoropoulos on December 6. Much of the violence that has swept Greece comes from pent up resentment over what many feel are the deep flaws in Greek society as a whole. Earlier, around 7000 protesters gathered to rally against government reforms and other social injustices. “Students are out on the street for a better life, better jobs and for the rights we deserve. We are out today and we will continue to be for the next few days,’‘ said a student protester. While many protesters remain peaceful, Greece’s worst riots in decades have caused millions of euros worth of damage over the last two weeks.More about: Clashes and riots, Greece
